STEPHANIE POLIZZI, M.A., LMHC

EMDR Certified Therapist | Eating Disorder & Trauma Specialist in Scarsdale NY |  Licensed in NY, CT, NJ & FL

You don’t have to navigate anxiety, body image struggles, or emotional overwhelm on your own.

If you are searching for a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Eating Disorders Specialist in Westchester, NY, I work with children, teens, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, eating disorders, behavioral challenges, life transitions, and trauma.

I am passionate about helping my clients feel understood, supported, and empowered. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in patterns with food, or impacted by past experiences, my goal is to help you build insight, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change.

So often, struggles with anxiety, food, or self-esteem are not about what is wrong with you, but about what you have experienced.

Who I Support

I work with:

  • Children (8+), teens, and adults

  • Teens and adults (14+) struggling with eating disorders and body image concerns

  • Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or trauma

  • Clients navigating life transitions and emotional challenges

  • Those feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected

What You Might Be Experiencing

  • Difficult thoughts or behaviors around food, eating, or body image

  • Constant anxiety, overthinking, or emotional distress

  • Feelings of shame, guilt, or low self-worth

  • Symptoms related to trauma or past experiences

  • Depression, lack of motivation, or feeling disconnected

  • Stress related to life changes or transitions

How I Work

My approach is collaborative, supportive, and trauma-informed. I focus on understanding what has shaped your experiences and how those experiences continue to influence your relationship with food, your body, and yourself.

I use humor and honesty to help you feel heard, validated, and safe enough to explore the barriers that may be keeping you stuck. Our work together is designed to gently move through those barriers so you can live a more true-to-self life.

In our work together, we may:

  • Explore how past experiences are influencing current patterns

  • Identify core beliefs that developed over time

  • Build coping skills that reduce anxiety and increase confidence

  • Strengthen emotional regulation and distress tolerance

  • Work toward a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food and your body

  • Process difficult memories in a safe and structured way

I integrate evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs, including:

If you are recovering from an eating disorder, I also collaborate with treatment teams when appropriate to ensure you receive comprehensive and coordinated care.

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported at a pace that feels right for you.

What Clients Often Notice

  • Deeply heard and understood without judgment

  • Supported in exploring difficult topics at a manageable pace

  • More aware of patterns they had not previously connected

  • Better equipped with practical tools to manage anxiety and emotions

Healing does not mean erasing the past. It means no longer feeling controlled by it.
