Some people choose not to use mindfulness in business because they're afraid that slowing down will make them lose their edge; however, the opposite actually happens. When you can slow down for a few minutes, you're much more likely to be able to ramp up and sustain the energy and creativity it takes run a successful business. Here are 4 ways mindfulness can increase your productivity:

1. Improved Attention

Mindfulness practices have been proven to increase your mind’s ability to focus and weed out distractions. When you’re less distracted, you can finish a task faster and with greater accuracy. Overall, this leads to a greater finished product in your business.

2. Less Burnout

Are you tired all the time? Suffer from autoimmune illness? Get sick frequently? Then news flash: you’re burnt out! Cortisol is the stress hormone in our bodies. In normal doses, it helps us give that extra push when we need to. But in high doses, it actually weakens the immune system. Mindfulness practices have been clinically proven to lower cortisol. So when you’re super stressed all the time, you’re more likely to get sick and miss a few days of work. That type of burnout doesn’t help anyone who is consistently trying to move the needle forward.

3. Better Decision Making Skills

When our emotions feel out of control, we’re less likely to make sound decisions and choices. Anyone who has made a decision or choice when they were super emotional can attest to this. Mindfulness increases our ability to stop and think. This leads to more thoughtful decision making, which can lead to better choices for your business or relationship.

Feeling calmer and having more clarity allows us to do more concentrated and targeted work. It's easy to keep ourselves on the go with busy work, but busy work isn't EFFECTIVE work.
